Phoenix – Mesa Marathon is Coming! Plan Your Route Accordingly!!

When I first moved to Downtown Mesa, I thought “how cool that the marathon runs through town”. But after spending about an house trying to figure out how to get to my Saturday morning appointment, finally calling my clients to go online and find an escape route, I realized that it’s what they call a mixed blessing.

From the City of Mesa: Motorists in the City of Mesa and surrounding area may experience road closures on Saturday, February 25, as runners in the Phoenix-Mesa Marathon make their way through the city.

Several streets will be closed starting at 4:00 a.m. on February 25. Streets will reopen in stages with all streets reopened by 1:30 p.m. Traffic will not be permitted to cross the race route during the event.

Motorists should plan ahead for possible delays. To avoid the race route completely, travelers are advised to skirt the perimeter by using the 202 Red Mountain Freeway (north and east borders); the 101 Price Freeway (west border); and US 60 Superstition Freeway (south border).
